Rebekah Brown (Viola) < back

A recent graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Rebekah appeared as principal viola in all of the main college orchestras during her time at the college. She was twice been selected to take up a string placement with the BBC National orchestra of Wales and she has participated in the Britten Pears Young Artists’ scheme since June 2003 and has also played for Sinfonia Cymru since her first year at the college (2001). Recently she has appeared with the National Chamber Orchestra of Wales.

Upon receiving her undergraduate degree Rebekah was awarded the Peter Esswood prize for string players at the college and the Vera Smart Scholarship. She also been further supported in her studies by both the Laura Ashley trust and the EMI Sound Foundation scholarships.

Rebekah has been fortunate to attend chamber music courses in Finland, the USA where she participated in the Bowdoin festival orchestra under the direction of Lewis Kaplan, and received chamber music coaching from André Emilianoff. In the summer of 2004 she participated in an international exchange to Australia where she received lessons form Elizabeth Holowell (OAM) a former member of the Australian Chamber orchestra and received chamber music coaching from Anthea Scott-Mitchell.

Recent teachers include Graham Oppenheimer, Gustav Clarkson and she is currently studying with Richard Crabtree.
